New Harrah’s Venue To Lure Under-21 Crowd

Harrah's New Orleans Casino recently received approval from the Louisiana legislature to transform part of its 90,000 square foot second floor into an entertainment venue for those under 21, the minimum age to enter the gaming floor. Following gaming commission and city officials' approval, the venue, could open in 18 months.

The Louisiana Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget recently voted to approve a new entertainment venue at Harrah’s New Orleans Casino. The facility would provide live entertainment for young adults age 20 or younger; individuals must be 21 years of age or older to enter the gambling floor.

The venue will be constructed in the casino’s 90,000 square foot second floor, currently being used for storage. Besides a live performance space, the facility may include a restaurant, dance floor or theater. Direct access will be added since those under age 21 may not enter the casino space.

Caesars Entertainment Corporation, the Louisiana Gaming Control Board and New Orleans city officials will have to approve the concept and design. Once that happens, the venue could open in 18 months.
