Station Casinos is considering the addition of a new 600-plus-room hotel and convention center as part of an extensive remodeling of Palace Station.
The venerable resort just west of the Las Vegas Strip, Station’s first casino and a landmark of the valley’s lucrative locals market ever since it opened 40 years ago, is in the throes of a $70 million makeover that includes a new porte cochère and valet entrance, a remodeled facade, parking improvements and upgrades to the casino floor.
The remodeling is scheduled for completion the end of this year.
While no details or construction timetable have been released, plans submitted to local authorities list in addition to the 27-story hotel and convention center the creation of more than 42,000 square feet of new casino space for a total of 126,700 square feet, a pool deck, a rooftop restaurant and lounge with outdoor seating and a central utility plant.
More than 447 motel-style rooms near the existing hotel tower have already been demolished to make way for the expansion.
