New Jersey’s Online Responsible Gambling Features Little-Used

A report commissioned by New Jersey found that “responsible gambling” features used on the state’s online gambling sites were little used. Only 1.3 percent of online accountholders put limits on the amount of money they could deposit into their accounts.

The first report on the effect of online gambling on gambling addiction commissioned by New Jersey found few gamblers are taking advantage of “responsible Gambling” features found on the sites.

About 6,850 gamblers, or 1.3 percent of online accountholders, put limits on the amount of money they could deposit into their accounts in a given time period. Still, the spending limits were the most used feature, according to a report released by the Rutgers Center for Gambling Studies.

The least popular option is a self-imposed five-year exclusion from betting sites which was signed up for by only 314 gamblers, or .06 percent of accountholders.

The figures could also be lower as data was provided for each of the online brands active in the market, and some players likely have accounts with multiple brands.
