New Quil Ceda Creek Casino Construction Begins

Washington’s Tulalip tribe has begun construction of a $140 million casino resort that will replace its original Quil Ceda Creek Casino. It will have a new 120,000 square foot hotel with 150 rooms and a much larger gaming floor with 1,500 slots. Plus, a pool, spa and meeting facilities. The design will make it easy to fit in future expansions.

The tribe is funding street improvements to ease access to the new facility.

Tribal spokesman Michael Greene told the Vancouver Courier “It’s being constructed across the street on 15 acres and will include a state-of-the-art smoke filtration system, five or six dining options and a food court.”

The original casino, known as “The Q,” is one of the oldest in Washington state. It was built in 2004. The existing 12-story hotel was added in 2008. The Q caters to a local market while the Tulalip Resort Casino serves a market extending into Canada and south and east.

An earlier report that the tribe was considering building an ambitious water park was premature, Greene said. The tribe is doing a feasibility study of such a park, but “it’s in the early stage,” he said.
