New Times, New Slogan

“What Happens Here, Stays Here” was a great slogan for Las Vegas, but why don’t we consider a different one now that the world has changed, suggests Ira David Sternberg

New Times, New Slogan

Don’t you think it’s time for a new Las Vegas slogan? The current one, “What happens here, only happens here,” makes sense if the Covid-19 Delta variant doesn’t shut everything down again. Let’s think of something that could reflect our new reality and simultaneously give Las Vegas hope.

Here are a few examples:

We’re Here When It Happens

In this example, we retain the optimism of Las Vegas while we are still in second gear, but are ready to shift to third gear. We’ve got the infrastructure, the talent, and the public-private partnership to handle it all. We may just have to wait for the all-clear.

We Still Have The Lights

Going forward, let’s accentuate the positive and show how bright we shine, even in the face of the Delta variant. And the slogan works for both the Strip and Downtown.

Back In The Saddle Again

This is a double meaning for Las Vegas, bringing us back to our Helldorado Days and also showing that we’re ready to ride when the posse gets here.

Not Just For locals

We already know that, but it helps to remind people why they need to visit us from everywhere else.

We’re Not The Big Apple, But Our Core Is Gaming

A little shot at New York (which is not quite the apple of anyone’s eye these days), but more importantly an emphasis on what we do best.

We’re Not The Big Easy, We’re The Big 8

We’re a tourist destination, but we’re also the epicenter of the gaming action when everyone can visit. Let’s sell them on action. Laissez les bons temps rouler!

We’re Not Motor City, But We’ve Got The Monorail

Not the best slogan in the world, but it does publicize how we can get around the Strip without cars. (And proves Las Vegas is eco-friendly!)

See The Action While You Bet On The Action

Not many cities can boast professional teams like the Raiders and the Vegas Golden Knights, and offer sports books to bet on those same teams. Sports will be another great way to get Las Vegas back on the field…and, on the ice.

All-In For Vegas

A great call for loyalty and a hope that players will bet with enthusiasm. Short and sweet.

The City Of Aces

Let’s put our cards on the table: While the slogan is a twisted version of the L.A. nickname, it leads with our strong point. It also has a sense of optimism, which we could all use.

When The Chips Are Down, You Could Still Win

A slogan that does not necessarily encourage gambling, but offers hope that your Las Vegas experience could turn out positive.

These are some of the slogans that could be used to position Las Vegas in our new reality. Let’s not hesitate to use them. After all, what happens here, may need to start very soon.
