New York gaming regulators recently toured the Rivers Casino site in Schenectady and said they are happy with the progress at all four state-approved casinos, three of which are to be located in Upstate New York, while another is planned in the Southern Tier.

The Rivers Casino has a planned opening early next year, and gaming regulators said the Montreign casino in Monticello and the del Lago also are advancing at a rapid pace and could open sooner than planned.

Rush Gaming CEO Greg Carlin said a mild winter this year helped to keep work crews working longer during the traditionally cold months

The Rivers Casino plans to begin training table games dealers in October. Once the casino is open, local officials anticipate more boat traffic on Mohawk Harbor and say they will boost their marine patrols to help ensure public safety.

There are 50 boat slips planned for the Mohawk Harbor component of the Rivers Casino development.

Meanwhile, the mid-Hudson area is seeing a development surge as work continues on the Montreign Resort Casino at Adelaar in Thompson.

A new gas-powered electrical generate facility is being built to power 500,000 homes in the area, as well as the casino project. Many other local infrastructure-improvement projects are underway, and that adds up to good news for the Montreign when it eventually opens.
