In preparation for building a mini-casino with 1,000 video slots and electronic table games such as roulette, baccarat and blackjack, Nassau Regional Off Track Betting recently hired Las Vegas-based consultants Union Gaming Analytics LLC for 12-18 months for up to 0,000. “They have expertise in the gaming industry, and that’s what we need right now,” said Nassau OTB President Joe Cairo. He stated Nassau hopes to open the facility next year and expects it to generate million in 2015. Union Gaming was selected from three out-of-state consultants, Cairo noted.
Union Gaming will help Nassau OTB, headquartered in Mineola, New York, select the casino’s location, which has been narrowed down to three choices, Cairo said. Union Gaming also will help Nassau OTB select an architectural and engineering consultant to analyze the electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning and parking of the proposed gaming parlor locations. In addition, Union Gaming will conduct economic impact studies, create a managerial business plan and offer marketing advice on the video lottery terminal rollout, Cairo said.
Last year the state of New York granted Nassau and Suffolk counties the authority to build one gaming site each with up to 1,000 video lottery terminals. Suffolk has not yet selected a site for its casino but has selected Buffalo-based Delaware North to operate it.
Union Gaming has consulted with the New York Gaming Association, Playboy Enterprises, MGM Resorts International and Caesars Entertainment.
