The Cayuga Nation recently held a grand opening for Lakeside Entertainment, its Class II gaming venue near Seneca Falls, New York. The facility, which employs 15 people, offers video gambling machines and bingo at the site of the former LakeSide Trading convenience store and gas station.

That gaming property had been operated for six years by a rival faction of the tribe until 2020, when tribal leader Clint Halftown and his council seized and demolished it along with several nearby buildings.

Halftown said, “In addition to our various other enterprises, gaming has long been a way that we can provide critical resources for our community at large and the citizens of the Cayuga Nation.” The all-new building brings gaming to the west side of Cayuga Lake within the tribe’s reservation for the first time in more than a decade, according to a press release.

The tribe operates another Class II gaming facility in a former auto parts store in Union Springs.
