Wynn Resorts informed customers via email last week that it will be updating its player rewards program. As of December 21, the casino’s Red Card player’s club will become Wynn Rewards, featuring “more ways to earn Five-Star resort experiences,” and will include new rewards tiers “designed to give the maximum benefits to fit your personal level of play.” Slot points for current members will roll over to the new Wynn Rewards Card. • NagaCorp, owner of Cambodia’s largest casino, NagaWorld in Phnom Penh, plans to develop a non-gaming resort adjoining the 800-year-old temple ruins of Angor Wat, the country’s most popular tourist destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Angor Lake of Wonder, as the project is called, will be built in phases and ultimately will feature two hotels, indoor and outdoor theme parks, MICE facilities and a variety of F&B and retail outlets and cultural attractions. Completion is slated for 2025 at a cost of US$350 million, the company said. • The Plaza hotel-casino has partnered with Patriot One Technologies to deploy artificial intelligence to keep guests and employees safe from violent assault such as have plagued the Las Vegas Strip and the downtown. According to Plaza General Manager Jay Franken, the PATSCAN platform “detects firearms, explosives, and given today’s pandemic, it also detects thermal for temperature readings as well as face coverings and masks.” The system is expected to be deployed and operational within 30 days. • Resorts World Las Vegas has announced it will hire 6,000 workers as it prepares for its 2021 opening. It will fill positions from entry level to management in time for June. Resorts World President Scott Sibella stated, “As the first property to be built on the Strip in over a decade, we are not only creating a resort experience from the ground up, but cultivating a talented team of hospitality professionals who share in our company’s core values of hard work, compassion, harmony, honesty, loyalty and wellness and safety.” • Chumash Casino Resort has been awarded the U.S. Green Building Council’s 2020 Leadership Award, which recognizes leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It was recognized for its innovative program of diverting waste and for being given a TRUE Silver Zero Waste certification from GBCI last year.
