Playtech shareholders have agreed to the board’s proposed relocation of tax residency from the Isle of Man to the U.K. In a vote on November 18, 92.2 percent of the 230,000 votes cast were in favor of the relocation proposal that was first announced at the start of this month. Shareholders agreed to a plan to move onto the mainland U.K. in early 2021. “Playtech is pleased to confirm that the proposed resolution at today’s general meeting has now been formally approved by shareholders,” the group said in a statement. • Mohegan Sun was recognized as an “Industry Innovator” by the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut. The awards recognize excellence in business and the community. The hotel rooms at Circa Resort and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas opened December 28, two months after the casino and sportsbook debuted in late October. Also opening this week is the Legacy Lounge, a room that honors great Las Vegas visionaries of the past, including Kirk Kerkorian, Jackie Gaughan, Steve Wynn and others. The lounge is located on the 28th floor of Circa. ● The two-year ban that prohibits men’s tennis tournaments from signing deals with sports betting and fantasy firms has been lifted by the ATP Tour. The International Tennis Integrity Agency and the elite tour say lifting the ban—which followed a string of match-fixing incidents in 2018—is in order in light of new measures to combat illicit activity. In a statement, ATP Tour Director Eddie Gonzalez said, “This is a great move for ATP Tour events to be able to secure revenue in a new category.” Gonzalez revealed that seven U.S.-based 250- and 500-level ATP tournaments have bundled their sponsorship rights together, meaning new sports betting and daily fantasy partners could be looking at seven-figure deals to partner these events collectively. ● Norsk Tipping will see its marketing presence curtailed starting in 2021 as part of an overhaul of gambling advertising rules in Norway. The Norwegian Media Authority will have the authority to stop TV advertising from overseas gambling companies, and the Ministry of Culture will also tighten the guidelines for advertising. The new guidelines also increase the requirements for responsible marketing, with all advertising to include contact information for a gambling helpline. ● Neufchâtel-Hardelot, a commune in the Hauts-de-France region in Northern France, is again interested in hosting a casino with a feasibility study set to be launched. Hardelot Plage, attached to the neighboring village of Neufchâtel, is an upscale seaside resort with more than 3,700 inhabitants. ● Spain’s Ministry of Consumer Affairs will launch a public consultation on a draft decree designed to make online gambling safer and fairer for consumers, especially young people. The decree will set out standards for action, intervention, control, prevention, awareness raising and treatment to safeguard players. It will also look to ensure operators are collecting the necessary player data to protect their players, as well as expanding the range of information shared with customers. ● The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has ordered the state’s three casinos to operate at reduced capacity for the next three weeks. The Encore Boston Harbor, MGM Springfield and Plainridge Park slots parlor will operate at 25 percent capacity, down from the 40 percent they had been operating at. The same rules applying to dining in the three casinos.
