The Palms Las Vegas will bring back its iconic Ghostbar when the property reopens in the spring. The San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority bought the former Station-owned casino, which closed in March 2020. ● The Grammy Awards telecast is coming to the MGM Grand Garden on April 3. MGM Resorts VP of Entertainment Chris Baldizan said, “We can’t wait to show artists and music fans everywhere why Las Vegas throws the best party.” The event was originally to take place at L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena—formerly the Staples Center—but organizers postponed it because of Covid uncertainty. ● Fans of singer Adele are facing serious sticker shock when it comes to her residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Tickets for the upcoming concerts are more expensive than seats at Super Bowl XVI—topping out at more than $30,000. But the singer was forced to reschedule her dates late last week when supply chain disruptions delayed the building of her unique stage. ● Nebraska’s Hastings Planning Commission, held a hearing January 18 on a horse racetrack and casino on the northern part of the city. At issue was whether to grant a permit and change zoning to allow it at that location. It needs the approval of the commission and the city council. • Spillemyndigheden, Denmark’s gaming regulator, has announced that brick-and-mortar casinos and gaming halls will stay closed until the end of the month due to an upswing in Covid-19 cases, especially the Omicron variant. • Online gaming operator Kindred Group is asking the government of Sweden not to impose more restrictions on iGaming operators because of the pandemic. The company claims the proposal by the regulator Spelinspektionen would weaken consumer protection. The restrictions include tightening deposit limits from 5,000 Swedish kronor to 4,000 kroner. • The Danish Gaming Authority reports that 30,451 Danes self-excluded from casinos since this option was made available in 2012. Three-quarters of those who self-exclude are males between the ages of 20 and 39. • Delta Corp., which is building a new Casino Boat in Goa, India, says it will increase capacity two and a half times that of the boat it is replacing: Deltin Caravela. CFO Hardik Dhebar credited record quarterly figures to a surge of demand following the lifting of Covid restrictions. “In a blue-sky scenario there is a lot of room for growth,” he said. ● Macau businesses and residents are being offered cash incentives to establish companies in the Guangdong Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone on nearby Hengqin Island. Beijing unveiled the plan in September to foster development on the island and diversify the regional economy. ●
