Philippine senators support the call to privatize casinos owned by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR), to fund a proposed sovereign wealth fund. The sale of the Casino Filipino brand could contribute up to PHP300 billion (US$5.5 billion) to the Maharlika Investment Fund. ● Law enforcement in Macau has reported a total of 965 gambling-related crimes in 2022, a 30 percent drop compared to 1,372 cases in 2021. ● Station Casinos’ newest Wildfire Casino property on 2700 Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas will open at noon on February 10, the company announced. The 21,000 square-foot, locals-focused casino will feature 200 slots, an STN sportsbook, an IHOP diner and a Tacos El Pastor restaurant. The date is two days before the Super Bowl on February 12. ● The Board of Supervisors of Shasta County, California voted January 27 to endorse the Redding Rancheria’s proposal to relocate its Win-River Resort & Casino to land near Interstate 5 known as Strawberry Fields. The County is in talks with Redding Rancheria to provide services to the casino. The tribe seeks for the Bureau of Indian Affairs to put the land into trust, making it reservation land. ● Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment announced recently it will no longer file voluntary paperwork with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The company gave no reason for the policy change but did say it would publish reports and financial information on its website.
