A bill has been proposed in the Nevada legislature that would repeal some of the sanitation and room cleaning laws that were put in place during the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. The bill, SB 441, is currently being considered in the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services. The Culinary Union, one of the largest hospitality unions in the city, has come out against the bill, saying in a statement that “Nevada must protect guest room attendants over huge casino companies.” • The Indiana Gaming Commission released a report indicating the state’s 12 casinos generated adjusted gaming revenues of $217.9 million in March, a decrease of 3.4 percent from $225.7 million in March 2022. Adjusted gross income totaled $211.4 million, giving the state $65.4 million in gaming taxes. The state also received $4.6 million from the admission-based supplemental tax paid by nine casinos. Hard Rock North Indiana in Gary reported adjusted gross income of $38.2 million, up $1.3 million from 2022. Revenue at Horseshoe Indianapolis in Shelbyville increased $1.4 million to $29.2 million. Caesars Southern Indiana in Elizabeth posted adjusted gross income of $23 million, an increase of $2.2 million over 2022.
