Australian operator Star Entertainment has appointed veteran financial executive Peter Hodgson to the company’s board of directors, completing the company’s “board renewal program” that was first announced in April 2022. Hodgson, who currently serves as chairman of Judo Bank among other roles, will be the seventh new appointment to Star’s board since the program began. In a statement, Star Chairman David Foster said that Hodgson’s “ commercial, governance and risk management experience” will help “contribute to The Star’s remediation and transformation.” ● Elon Musk’s Boring Co. is continuing its progress on the Vegas Loop transportation system, as two digging machines arrived at the Encore and Westgate casinos on July 10. The two properties will eventually have dedicated stops along the system that will connect the major points of access around town via underground tunnels. To this point, the project has expanded several times, and there are now a total of 69 planned stops across 65 miles of tunnels. ● One of Puerto Rico’s largest casinos announced recently that it is launching its mobile sports betting app in December. The launch will allow customers to take MetroBets with Caesars Sportsbook and bet from any corner of the island. New users who make their first wager of $50 or more with Caesars Sportsbook Puerto Rico will receive a $50 Bonus Bet token, win or lose. ● The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has suspended Tipster Limited’s license in response to bankruptcy proceedings. Tipster can appeal the decision. The company must provide access to registered users’ accounts. German regulator Gemeinsamen Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL) also withdrew Tipster’s sports betting license.
