Australian operator Tabcorp announced it has resolved a previous dispute from the Australian Tax Office regarding income tax payments pertaining to licensing and similar matters. As part of the resolution, Tabcorp will recoup an after-tax benefit of US$28.7 million, which will be reflected in the company’s financial disclosures for the fiscal year ending next June. The payment obligations first stemmed from Tabcorp spinning off its lottery and keno business, which eventually became an independently traded entity. • Sweden’s Gambling regulator Spelinspektionen has proposed commercial and technical changes to its charitable and state lotteries and submitted them to the European Commission (EC). These changes would take effect in March 2024, SBC News reported. The amendments to Sweden’s Gambling Act are contained within the “The Lottery Inspectorate’s general advice on state lotteries and lotteries for charitable purposes.” The amendments include technical changes such as refining the definition of “electronic lotteries” and “charitable draws.”It also specifies requirements for lottery tickets, and what information they are required to display, such as the license holder’s business name and risks associated with the game.
