The Culinary Union has reached a new five-year labor agreement with Waldorf Astoria, covering some 300 non-gaming employees. Details from the contract were not released, but most expect it to fall in line with the other agreements the union has already signed in recent months, which included 32 percent wage increases over the course of the deals. The union will now continue negotiations with the remaining 20 properties in Las Vegas still yet unsigned.   •   According to county property records, the SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel next to the Las Vegas Convention Center has been purchased by Virginia-based Apple Hospitality for $75 million. The 299-room hotel first opened in 2009 and sits on a 1.6-acre plot. In a statement, Apple said that the growth of the city and new events such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix and the upcoming Super Bowl were the driving force behind the purchase.
