The board of directors of Red Rock Resorts has been re-elected by the company’s shareholders, despite questions raised about the operator’s dedication to diversity and inclusion. The California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) and Los Angeles County Employee Retirement Association (LACERA), which own an undisclosed number of shares, filed notices with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in May that they would “withhold” votes on the nominees due to Red Rock’s lack of gender and racial diversity. Chairman and CEO Frank Fertitta III, Vice Chairman Lorenzo Fertitta, and members James Nave, Robert Cashell Jr. and Robert Lewis were unopposed and easily re-elected at the company’s May 30 annual meeting.  •  Stephen Thayer, the former general manager and vice president of The Strat in Las Vegas, left the property as of June 5. Neither The Strat nor Thayer would comment on the circumstances surrounding the change, adding to the mystery of the abrupt departure. Officials did confirm that Skylar Dice, the casino’s assistant general manager since 2022, will fill in Thayer’s duties on an interim basis. Prior to joining The Strat in late 2019, Thayer had amassed nearly two decades of operational experience at numerous properties in both Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
