According to ESPN, NFL owners on March 28 voted to permit stadium sportsbooks to remain open on game days. The bigger question is why they weren’t already open on game days. Wasn’t that one of the draws of these sportsbooks? The convenience and ambiance of going to one during a game.
At the moment, four teams operate sportsbooks in the stadium area. Only the Washington Commanders have one inside the stadium. The Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants and Jets have sportsbooks outside the actual stadiums. Other clubs have received approvals to join the club.
The fact that prior to the vote such locales were considered off limits on game day seemed ridiculous as fans could bet using their phones inside the stadium to place a wager. Credit The Athletic as the first to report the news.
