A January cyberattack that temporarily shut down the website of the Nevada Gaming Control Board resulted in no personal information accessed or acquired, according to the agency, which reported results of an internal investigation into the incident.
“An investigation determined that no personal information was accessed or acquired by any unauthorized persons as a result of the incident,” read a message on the agency’s website. “Upon becoming aware of the Incident, NGCB agents promptly took steps to investigate the situation, and secured the website in accordance with NGCB’s established protocols. The NGCB chose to shut down the existing website, and transitioned to a new website platform under the guidance of the Nevada Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).
“An investigation was conducted with cooperation between the NGCB information technology team, the OCIO, fellow law enforcement agencies, and external legal and forensic experts. The NGCB is pleased to report that the investigation uncovered no evidence that personal information was accessed or acquired by any unauthorized persons in connection with the Incident. The security of the NGCB’s information systems is a top priority. Accordingly, the NGCB will continue working diligently to maintain such security.”
