The National Hockey League has finalized a multi-year partnership with Tipsport to take sports betting to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Tipsport oversees sports betting in Central and Eastern Europe.
The agreement is to provide official league sports betting data to Tipsport via its new “puck and player tracking technology.” This is the first such agreement for the NHL outside of North America.
NHL will also provide promotional media in both republicans and official branding opportunities in both countries.
Eastern Europe provides many hockey players to the league and NHL Vice President of Business Development and International Partnerships John Lewicki said there is a “unique opportunity for fan engagement in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, utilizing technology and data that are proprietary to the NHL.” He called Tipsport “an ideal partner for the league to further fan engagement around the globe.”
Tipsport Chief Marketing Officer Jan Čumpelík called the contract, “one of the most important contracts in the history of Tipsport,” adding, “It will allow us to gradually bring to our betting community a number of world-unique innovations, we gain unprecedented access to data and exclusive conditions of cooperation with the most popular ice hockey competition in the world.”
