Nick Rust, a veteran executive in gambling and sports sectors, has been named the first chairman of the U.K. Gambling Commission’s (UKGC) Industry Forum, the commission said in a press release November 8. It is a two-year term.

Previously Rust was CEO of the British Horseracing Authority and is current chairman of the Starting Price Regulatory Commission and serves as a director of Redcar Racecourse. He was also founding partner of GVS EQ, which specializes in equine sports.

Commission Chairman Marcus Boyle praised Rust: “I am delighted that Nick has been appointed as the inaugural Chair of the Commission’s Industry Forum. Nick’s extensive knowledge of the gambling sector makes him a valuable asset, and I am confident he will work with us to create a productive and insightful Industry Forum,” he said.

The Industry Forum was created in September and will include about 10 members from the U.K.’s gaming industry. It will provide an industry perspective to the Commission in areas such account management, consultations and the Commission’s data program.
