NIGA Chairman Clarifies Relationship to Subject of Lawsuit

NIGA (National Indian Gaming Association) Chairman Ernie Stevens Jr. (l.) last week issued a statement clarifying his role as an unpaid adviser to the Blue Stone Strategy Group, which is being sued by a former employee.

Ernie Stevens Jr., chairman of NIGA (National Indian Gaming Association) last week clarified his affiliation with Blue Stone Strategy Group, which is being sued by a former employee.

In a statement Stevens noted that he has served as an unpaid adviser to the group for several years because it assists Indian nations in “strengthening their tribal economies and tribal self-government, these are priorities that I have supported throughout my years of service to Indian Country.”

He added, “I believe that efforts to promote tribal economic development so that Indian nations and tribal businesses can thrive is critical to the health and well-being of tribal communities: work which my life is dedicated to.”
