NIGC Names Director of Compliance

The National Indian Gaming Commission has named a director of compliance from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Douglas Hatfield will be in charge of compliance operations among the many gaming tribes of the U.S.

The National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) has named Douglas Hatfield, of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, to the post of director of compliance.

He will be in charge of the commission’s compliance operations, concentrating on consultation and relationship building, training and technical assistance, regulatory review, and agency operations review.

The commission’s acting chairman, Jonedev Chaudhuri praised Hatfield: “His experience applying NIGC regulations, especially Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS), will be a great benefit to the Commission as it continues to implement the newly adopted regulations and review other regulations,” he said.

The commission is responsible for regulating 420 Indian casinos operated by 240 tribes in 28 states.
