New Jersey online poker revenues have soared with the January 1 activation of a multi-state player pool with Michigan. For the month of January, New Jersey online poker revenue increased 24.76 percent compared to December 2022.
PokerStars‘ use of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) that Michigan entered in April 2022 welcomed the Michigan-New Jersey poker player union with New Year’s Day tournaments.
Consequently, online poker generated $2.7 million in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in January. In December 2022, poker rooms saw $2.2 million.
Meanwhile, the Resorts Casino Hotel license showed a 76.06 percent increase from December 2022’s $619,714 in GGR, generating $1.1 million in revenue.
The January 2023 numbers also brought the year-over-year comparison of New Jersey online poker revenue into positive territory, with a 5.96 percent increase over January 2022’s $2.6 million.
Online casinos alone saw $150 million in GGR in January, a 0.59 percent climb over December’s $149 million. More significantly, January’s year-over-year improvement was 10.99 percent higher than January 2022’s $135 million.
Overall, New Jersey’s online casino and poker sites generated $153 million in January, up 0.93 percent over December’s $151 million.
