NJ Poll Shows Opposition to Betting on College Games

A poll by Stockton University shows less support for expanding sports betting to include New Jersey colleges than opposition. The results, released September 29, showed 45 percent of New Jersey voters opposed a constitutional amendment that would permit wagers on New Jersey teams, while 40 percent supported the change, according to the New Jersey Globe.

Under current law, bettors may not wager on college games that occur in New Jersey or involve a New Jersey-based college. In June, the legislature approved putting the change to a vote through a constitutional amendment on the ballot this November.

The poll took place between September 17 and 25 with a sample of 552 likely voters.
