Coljuegos, Colombia’s gaming regulator, has licensed gaming lab NMi to assess online gaming sites and operators, adding to the firm’s recent accreditations in Panama, Peru and the Bahamas. Swedish online game provider Play’n GO will partner with NMi to enter the country, which just legalized online gaming.
“It’s imperative that Play’n GO can offer all its games in regulated markets. That’s why partnering with NMi is so important to us,” said Johan Törnqvist, CEO and co-founder of Play’n GO.
To date, Colombia has only approved certification laboratories for land-based gaming. The new regulatory framework defines multiple gaming categories as well as technical requirements for online gaming systems and land-based gaming.
“We are delighted to have received our formal approval as a lab in Colombia,” said Julian Borg-Barthet of NMi Gaming’s gaming division. “With our accreditation in Panama adding to our portfolio along with Peru and the Bahamas, we are now accredited for all major jurisdictions in Latin America and the Caribbean, and we look forward to taking our customers into these new markets.
“Our customers’ compliance agenda is an integral part of their iGaming business, as they naturally wish to expand into these emerging, highly-regulated jurisdictions, and we know our customers appreciate the knowledge and experience we bring to ensure that they meet the needs of regulators.”
