No Decision on Goa Riverboats

The Indian state of Goa is still weighing where to relocate offshore casino operations on the Mandovi River. The government had set a deadline of March 31 to remove the gambling ships, but an alternative site has not yet been chosen.

The government of Goa in India has yet to decide where to relocate four casino cruise ships now operating on the Mandovi River. According to CalvinAyre.com, officials have identified four potential sites: River Chapora, Aguada Bay, and the east and west banks of the River Zuari.

Officials originally planned to move out the cruises by the end of 2015, when their licenses came up for renewal. They later extended that deadline to March 31. Given ongoing discussions on the best location, that deadline may also be pushed out. The casino boats employ 2,500 people.
