Not Seeing I to I

With gaming operators not seeming to agree on the legalization of online gaming, Jim Murren and Steve Wynn serve as two examples of just that.

On online gaming, one of the more polarizing issues among casino executives, Steve Wynn of Wynn Resorts Ltd. and MGM Resorts International CEO Jim Murren don’t seem to share the same opinion when it comes down to it. On one hand, Steve Wynn shares similar views held by competitor Sheldon Adelson, vehemently opposing online gambling. Murren, on the other hand, is all for it.

In fact, Murren says the company “wholeheartedly” opposes the Restoration of America’s Wire Act (RAWA). Murren feels the RAWA “won’t stop online gaming” and the lack of regulated online gaming drives consumers to “illegal oversees sites” which put them at risk.

Steve Wynn feels that he, and anyone else who would support online gambling would be “blamed if anything goes wrong.” Wynn and Adelson also feel that if online gambling were to be allowed, the access would be so easy that lower-income families, and people with gambling problems would be at high risk.

Nevada Congressman Harry Reid recently said, “online gaming is not the direction Nevada should go.”
