Numbers of Ukraine’s Self-Excluded Gamblers Rises Rapidly

The percentage of Ukrainians who have self-excluded from gambling has jumped at a rapid rate, although the actual numbers remain small.

The statistics are for the first four months of 2023 and were revealed by the Ukrainian Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL).

KRAIL has made its self-exclusion registry a priority ever since responsible gaming rules were introduced in 2021. In actual numbers, the list is 687, all of whom turned to KRAIL on their own, said KRAIL Chairman Ivan Rudy. “Therefore, there is certainly a demand for a conscious attitude to the gambling sphere, first of all from those who have already faced difficulties,” he said.

In 2021 the number on the list was 195, the following year 315 were added, followed by 245 so far this year. Most of those on the list range in age from 21-30 and 31-40. Only 104 entries were aged 41-50, with 33 entries for 51 and older.
