The Las Vegas Aviators are the Oakland A’s Triple A affiliate. So, it should not come as a surprise that the parent team has zeroed in on Las Vegas if it moves out of Oakland.
The A’s sent fans of the Aviators a survey seeking information about where to locate a ballpark, including the Strip. Also, whether and what kind of roof.
The A’s are still talking with the city of Oakland, but they keep coming back to Las Vegas. The team officials have made six visits to Southern Nevada, scouting locations, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The A’s also asked fans about charging personal seat licenses to help finance the stadium. The Raiders generated $549 million from PSLs even before the stadium was completed.
The survey comes a week after the Alameda County Board of Supervisors approved a nonbinding agreement to join Oakland in a tax financing district for a $12 billion waterfront development including a new ballpark.
Oakland and the A’s still have disagreements over affordable housing, infrastructure, and community benefits. The project would feature a mixed-use development surrounding a $1 billion, 30,000-seat waterfront ballpark at the Port of Oakland’s Howard Terminal.
