Ohio Officials Approve Proposed Casino Plan

The Columbus, Ohio city council recently approved the proposed redevelopment plan from developer Convergence LLC, which would include a casino, racetrack and hotel.

Mayor Jim Bulkley said, “I think it’s important to recognize this proposal was in front of planning and zoning a week ago and it was aired there and had the ability for the public to come forward and give their inputs and feedback. There was no negative feedback that came back. Again, here this evening, there has been no negative feedback.”

He added, “We all know all programs and projects have pluses and minuses. This was diligently worked to try to minimize the negatives that would be there and build the positives that this would bring to the community.”

Last month, Convergence officials received approval of its redevelopment plan from the Columbus Planning Commission, a major step in receiving tax increment financing for the project infrastructure.
