Ohio’s ThistleDown Racino in North Randall last week began a million upgrade that includes a new parking facility, another restaurant and a new bar.
So far ThistleDown has spent $88 million to upgrade the racetrack, which it reopened two years ago. By committing to another $70 million, the company says it is “doubling down” on the area gaming market and on the success of the racino.
In a statement ThistleDown Manager Rick Skinner said, “Our initial investment in ThistleDown has been a tremendous success and now we’re ready to introduce a new level of entertainment and dining options to the area,” adding, “Our goal is to provide a phenomenal experience as the east side’s neighborhood racino.”
Besides adding 1,000 new parking spaces, the racino will add a High Limit Gaming and VIP Lounge with 250 video lottery terminals (VLTs), joining 1,283 existing machines.
The new restaurant with 150 seats will offer steaks, seafood and a pasta bar.
Construction is expected to take about 12 months.
