Japanese billionaire and gaming mogul Kazuo Okada has filed theft and estafa charges against current and former executives of a company he founded, Universal Entertainment Corp., and its subsidiary, Tiger Resort Leisure Entertainment Inc., operator of the Okada Manila resort in Manila, for working together to oust him.
Okada is suing a total of 12 people including his son, Tomohiro, his estranged wife, Takako, and Universal President Jun Fujimoto. Others named in the suit are Kenshi Asano, Steve Wolstenholme, Antonio Cojuangco, Manuel Lazaro, Reynaldo David, Yoshinao Negishi, Kenji Sugiyama and Michelle Lazaro, according to Inside Asian Gaming.
The Okada complaint, filed before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Paranaque, alleges the group “conspired together to willfully, unlawfully and feloniously seize his ownership rights and interest in TRLEI without his consent.”
Okada himself has been charged with estafa or fraud along with former TRLEI President and COO Takahiro Tsui; they were accused of misappropriating US$3.2 million in wages and fees from TRLEI without board approval.
