Ken Luttrell’s hopes were dashed when the sports betting bill he authored could not get past a Senate committee.
Luttrell was confident that the bill, which included mobile and in-person wagering, would get the votes in the Senate after the House voted yes in March.
“My colleagues saw the advantage, the economic advantage to this, the restoration of tribal-legislative relations,” Rep. Luttrell told local outlet KOCO 5.
“We feel that this is a win-win and something that the governor can get behind and something that Senator Coleman can work on getting the Senate behind also.”
He blamed the failure on the Senate’s desire to have more dialogues between the governor and tribal leaders before committing.
Undaunted, Luttrell told KOCO 5 he’ll bring it up again next session in February.
And if that weren’t bad enough, KOCO 5 said another bill to decrease the penalties for cockfighting also died by the deadline.
