Oklahoma Tribe Debuts Racino Renovations

The $5 million renovation recently debuted at Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs (l.) in Claremore, Oklahoma. The 43,000 square foot casino was redesigned with 250 electronic games and the simulcast viewing area offers numerous large screen TVs and seats more than 100. The indoor paddock observation area provides a panoramic view of the paddock.

Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Oklahoma recently debuted the results of an extensive renovation project. Nearly million in was spent on a new 43,000 square foot casino, featuring a gaming floor with 250 electronic games in a new layout.

Will Rogers Downs General Manager Rusty Stamps said, “The feedback we’ve received from our guests made the investment worth it. The upgrades offer a high-quality experience for new guests, while our loyal customer base is overjoyed with the improvements to their favorite horse racing facility.”

We feel this upgrade streamlines our racing facility with our other casinos and gives it the look and experience our guests have come to appreciate from our brand.”

The project also included relocating the popular simulcast viewing area and installing numerous large screen TVs and seating for more than 100 racing fans. The dance floor and entertainment venue also were renovated. The Horseshoe banquet space can accommodate 150 additional customers during major events like the recent Kentucky Derby. The indoor paddock observation area off the new simulcast room offers a panoramic view of the paddock area. In addition, the Dog Iron Grill now features two seating areas and can serve 90 patrons.

Opened in December 2005, the facility offers six months of live horse racing, with a spring Thoroughbred meet and fall Quarter Horse meet. Simulcast racing from around
