Canada’s Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has begun the process of finding a gaming company to manage Caesars Windsor casino, according to CDC Gaming Reports.
OLG oversees all gaming operations in the province. It has released a Request for Pre-Qualification (RFPQ). That is the first step in selecting a service provider to manage gaming operations. The RFPQ process will close May 25.
Caesars Windsor Entertainment Ltd. is the current operator. Its contract ends in 2025. It can participate in the process and try to extend its contract.
Bidders’ previous experience operating large casino resorts will be a major factor under consideration during the process. Those who pass muster will then advance to the Request for Proposal (RFP) phase, when they will be asked to submit a detailed proposal.
OLG President and CEO Duncan Hannay commented, “OLG is advancing plans that will support the long-term vibrancy and excitement of the casino experience in Ontario.” He added, “Releasing the RFPQ for the Windsor casino is the first step in selecting a highly qualified service provider that will ensure the long-term competitiveness of the site, while continuing to generate economic benefits for the local community and for Ontario.”
The casino resort, located near the U.S. border, has 750 hotel rooms, 2,230 slot machines, 85 gaming tables, a retail sportsbook, dining and lounges.
