Kewadin Casinos in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, owned by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, recently named Michael Olujic chief executive officer. He brings 15 years of management experience and more than 10 years of gaming and tribal financial experience to his new position. Previously Olujic held senior leadership positions as general manager at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino in Chandler, Arizona and North Star Mohican Casino in Bowler, Wisconsin. He also was chief financial officer of the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin in Green Bay, of which he is a member.
Olujic plans to initiate new brand strategies and significant capital improvements at Kewadin’s five Upper Peninsula properties, which together offer more than 2,000 slot machines, 55 table games, two hotels, convention and meeting facilities and other amenities.
Olujic holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University and an MBA from Marquette University.
Sault Tribe Chairperson and Kewadin Gaming Authority Chair Aaron Payment said, “We are very pleased to have Michael leading our efforts in placing Kewadin Casinos among Michigan’s top spots for entertainment in the beautiful Upper Peninsula. Olujic already has made great strides just in the short time he has been here, and we look forward to seeing that continue.”
Olujic added, “Kewadin Casinos already are prime destinations for Upper Peninsula residents and visitors who enjoy staying, dining and gaming in one of the most scenic and beautiful regions of North America. In the coming months, customers will see changes that will introduce new life and excitement to the Kewadin properties.”
