The Oneida Indian Nation recently announced it will expand its planned 0 million luxury retail shopping center at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York from 250,000 square feet to 300,000 square feet. Tribal spokesman Joel Barkin said “better than anticipated leasing activity” led to the new design for the enclosed high-end retail shopping center and entertainment complex. Construction will begin next spring.
Outlets at Turning Stone will feature 60 upscale retailers, Barkin said, as well as nationally recognized restaurants within the new shopping center and in the main casino. The location also will be shifted to connect with the $25 million Exit 33 entertainment complex, opened in July 2013, that includes a country music dance hall, rock and roll club, cocktail piano bar and sushi lounge. “By relocating the shopping center to connect with Exit 33, it will be closer to the casino gaming floor,” he said.
The increased square footage will accommodate a six-screen movie theater and luxury bowling alley, Barkin said. He noted the project will create 600 construction jobs and 500 retail jobs.
