New York’s Oneida Indian Nation plans to start construction in May on the tribe’s third casino in the state.
Point Palace Casino, pegged initially at $40 million-$50 million, will be located on a portion of a 100-acre parcel the tribe purchased last year on Oneida Lake in the town of Sullivan in Madison County about a mile from the tribe’s Yellow Brick Road Casino in neighboring Onondaga County.
The location was selected, the tribe said, for its proximity to the New York State Thruway and Interstate 81.
Plans call for a smoke-free, 65,000-square-foot gaming floor with 500 slot machines and 20 live table games. Rounding out the offering will be two quick-service restaurants, two lounges, a branch of the Opals Confectionary bakery and chocolatier found at the Oneidas’ flagship Turning Stone resort and parking for 800 vehicles.
“Each of our properties offers a different experience, and Point Place will be a unique offering from Yellow Brick, and will complement the overall model we’re created,” said nation spokesman Joel Barkin. “We are confident the region can support each of these businesses.”
It’s estimated the facility will generate 250 construction jobs and employ 200 people when it opens in spring 2018, according to current plans.
Oneida Nation Enterprises CEO Ray Halbritter said, “We are thrilled to announce this new investment in central New York, and are confident it will continue the success we have had in working hand-in-hand with the local community to create good jobs and generate public revenues.”
The casino is undoubtedly ready to compete with del Lago casino in Tyre, 43 miles west of Syracuse and within just a few miles of the new casino.
