Speaking in a television interview, Mark O’Neil Chief Financial Officer for Irish bookmaker BoyleSports said the company is committed to expanding its UK retail network.
BoyleSports was unable to gain shops from the merger of Ladbrokes and Coral—which required a sell-off of shops under British competition rules—that would have given BoyleSports a “solid retail platform,” O’Neil said, but the bookmaker is still moving to expand.
O’Neil said expansion is a “‘reality for the business,” and the bookmaker is pursuing “active regional opportunities.”
“We are looking for the right opportunities that will offer us scale, not just taking over two or three stores, but looking at cities and areas that will allow us to build a network and brand presence with a minimum of 20 to 25 stores,” O’Neil said.
