Online Gambling Bill Proposed for Czech Republic

Officials are preparing a new online gambling bill in the Czech Republic. The proposed bill would allow online gambling, but would increase taxes for casino operators who decide to offer online gambling services.

Czech officials are preparing a new gambling bill that would allow for online gambling.

Czech Deputy Finance Minister Ondrej Zavodsky told Bloomberg News that his office is drafting a new gambling bill that would allow online gaming for all operators in the country.

The Czech Republic allows gambling licenses in bars and has 60,000 gambling machines in operation.

The proposed bill would allow online gambling, but would increase taxes for casino operators who decide to offer online gambling services.

The country takes in $400 million in gambling taxes, but Zavodsky told Bloomberg that regulatory costs are higher.

“We need to create an environment that will allow us to tackle hardcore gaming like slots or table games,” Zavodsky told Bloomberg.

A bill could be passed in 2016, he said.
