Online Gambling Companies Continue Australian Exit

The Mansion Group and Genesis Global Limited are the latest online gambling companies to announce they will stop taking bets from Australian players. The country has passed new gambling regulations that did not legalize online poker or casino games or allow sites offering the games to be licensed in the country. Gambling firms who have exited the market include PokerStars, 32Red, PartyPoker, 888Poker and Vera&John.

Two more online gambling sites—The Mansion Group and Genesis Global Limited—have left the Australian market in the face of new gambling regulations there.

The site Videoslots also has reportedly stopped taking on new Australian players, which could be a precursor to leaving the market.

The country is about to implement a new gambling act that conspicuously did not legalize either online poker of online casino games. The new regulations provide no way for sites offering such games to be licensed in the country. Only sports books and racing sites can be licensed and Australian regulators say they will levy fines against unlicensed sites taking bets in the country.

That has led to an exodus of online sites exiting the market and no longer taking bets from Australian players. Gambling firms who have exited the market include PokerStars, 32Red, PartyPoker, 888Poker and Vera&John.
