Online Gambling Rises in Spain

Online gambling in the Spanish market rose by 13 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016 and 20 percent over 2015 according to a report by Spain’s General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling Affairs. The numbers reflect a 17 percent increase in new players over 2015.

Online gamblers bet about €3 million for the quarter, an about 13 percent increase over the third quarter of 2016, and a 20 percent increase over the fourth quarter of 2015.

Gross gaming revenue was up about 20 percent over the third quarter and an increase of more than 30 percent over 2015, according to an analysis by yogonet.com.

The number of active users registered during the fourth quarter of 2016 has increased over the previous quarter by about 12 percent and by 17 percent over the same quarter of 2015. The number of registered users during the fourth quarter increased to 600,000 users, representing a decrease of 8 percent compared to the previous quarter but a 9 percent increase compared to the same quarter of 2015, Yogonet.com said.
