A drop off in online poker players playing in cash games on New Jersey’s online websites—first noticed by the online poker tracking site PokerScout—appears to be stabilizing.
PokerScout provides daily analysis of the global online poker industry.
The site found that while poker players continue to decline in New Jersey, the rate of decline at sites like Party Poker NJ and Ultimate Poker is now on par with declines in the international market.
For most of April, PokerScout said declines in New Jersey had been “much steeper” than the at-large trend.
The site now predicts that “total traffic will flatten out between 350 and 400 average cash game players” at New Jersey’s regulated poker sites a day.
Though that is lower than expected, the state is making progress in fixing geolocation problems that have slowed online play in the state as well as fixing online banking problems which have also hurt play.
New Jersey’s online sites also have to continue strong promotions and marketing to win back players using illegal overseas sites, the website said.
