Ontario Covid Restrictions Could Ease

As early as this week, the government of Ontario, Canada will begin easing Covid restrictions in casinos and other venues. Proof of vaccinations and masks will still be mandated. Capacity limits will be lifted by March 14.

Premier Doug Ford ordered the closures January 5 after Covid infections began to spike. It was only the most recent of a series of closures and restrictions since March 2020. In December the government cut casino capacity to 50 percent and then ordered complete closures in early January.

Caesars Windsor has announced that it will open by the end of January. It will no longer require reservations, but, as per government order, guests will need to show proof of vaccination.

It will operate at half capacity with the gaming floor, table games, food and beverage and hotel all operating. At first, the Colosseum will remain closed.

Caesars Windsor President Kevin Laforet said in a statement, “As we reopen, the health and safety of our guests and employees remain our top priority. We are optimistic for the future and look forward to providing an exciting entertainment experience.”
