Pacífico Acquires Sun Dreams

Nueva Inversiones Pacífico Sur Limitada, based in Chile, has completed the acquisition of casino operator Sun Latam SpA aka Sun Dreams from Sun International. The official document was filed with the Financial Market Commission (CMF) last week.

The two companies announced the acquisition agreement in August. Pacífico has acquired 65 percent of Sun Dreams, which makes it a 100 percent Chilean company.

Sun International’s CEO Anthony Leeming had said that a dispute with the local regulator, Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego (SCJ) was a factor in its selling its share of the casino.

The two companies had jointly invested more than $1.4 billion on the promise of they would get a 15 year license and a 15 year extension. The SCJ earlier this year discarded that guarantee.
