Paddy Power Betfair Merger Leads to Isle of Man Job Cuts

Paddy Power’s $7.4 billion merger with Betfair led to its first job cuts as Paddy Power’s Isle of Man offices are being switched to Malta. The company plans to trim 10 percent of its workforce.

Paddy powers .4 billion merger with Betfair has resulted in the bookmaker moving its Isle of Man offices to Malta.

At least 10 jobs were cut by Paddy Power in the move, according to the Isle of Man Examiner. Passy Power intends to trim about 10 percent of its workforce in the merger, reports said.

Paddy Power has also cut members of its marketing team, which has been described by workers there as a “clear-out.”

First to leave was Paddy Power chief marketing officer Gav Thompson. He was replaced by his counterpart at Betfair, Jonathan Devitt, who took on a joint chief marketing officer role in March, according to CalvinAyre.com.
