The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) has appointed attorney Wilma Eisma as the first woman to serve as president and chief operating officer (COO).
PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro Tengco said Eisma will be “a great asset,” with “vast experience in both the government and private sectors (that) will surely be put to good use here.”
Eisma holds a law degree from Ateneo de Manila University and was formerly on the board of directors of the Development Bank of the Philippines.
She has also worked at the Philippines Department of Trade and Industry, in the Office of the Secretary, and in the Office of the Majority Leader in the House of Representatives. Prior to that, she served as the first woman administrator and chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority.
In the private sector, she held leadership roles at PMFTC Inc., the Philippine affiliate of Philip Morris International.
Eisma succeeds Juanito Sanosa Jr., who resigned last January. According to [em]SBC News[em], she will support key PAGCOR initiatives, including a recent decision to reduce the tax on gross gaming revenue by 5 percent.
