Paris Awaits First Casino

A government experiment in gaming in the capital city is scheduled to commence this spring with the opening of a casino by Groupe Tranchant. It’s a very modest experiment, the first of three planned venues, all with no slots and a restrictive menu of table games.

France’s Groupe Tranchant has won approval to open the first casino in Paris.

One of the country’s leading operators, family-owned Tranchant said it plans to invest €6 million-€7 million in the venue, which is slated to debut this spring with a limited offering of 30 table games, including poker, no machine games, and a restaurant.

It will employ around 160 people.

Tranchant is one of three operators authorized to operate casinos in the capital on a trial basis that commences this year and runs through 2021.
