Park Lane’s Melniks Linked to Money Laundering

London’s elite Park Lane Club, which calls itself London’s most desirable private members’ club and the “jewel of “Mayfair,” faces a license review by the UK Gambling Commission following money laundering allegations involving its owner, Latvian businessman Vasilijs Melniks.

Melniks owns the casino through his company, Silverbond Enterprises, whose assets were seized by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General in August. According to G3Newswire.com, Melniks reportedly laundered €54 million (US$62.5 million) as part of a deal with Ukrainian state-owned energy company Naftogaz.

The Park Lane Club, located inside the Hilton Hotel Park Lane, opened in 2014, and was formerly the famed Playboy Club.
